Lacock is a picturesque village in Wiltshire, England, known for its well-preserved medieval and Georgian buildings. At the heart of the village is Lacock Abbey, a former monastery turned country house that was once home to William Henry Fox Talbot, a pioneer of photography. The Abbey’s cloisters, with their atmospheric stone corridors, were used in the Harry Potter films as parts of Hogwarts. Today, the Abbey also houses a museum dedicated to Talbot’s photographic innovations. The village itself is a delight to explore, with narrow streets lined by traditional stone cottages, independent shops, and cosy tearooms. St. Cyriac’s Church, dating back to the 14th century, stands as a peaceful reminder of Lacock’s long history.
